When it comes to the size of the best piece, the question often arises: blood penis or flesh penis? Here you can find out what the differences are between the two types of penis and whether this is relevant for sex and potency.
Sexual arousal causes swelling of the primary sex organs in both sexes. In men, this is more evident in the form of an erection of the penis than in women – and is also necessary for the performance of the sexual act. However, not every penis swells equally during sexual arousal. In addition to small individual differences in penis size and length, there are basically two different types of penises – the flesh penis and the blood penis. These are their differences.

What is a meat penis?
The classic meat penis (“shower”) is already relatively large when not erect and grows relatively little as a result of sexual arousal. The cavernous bodies become stiff due to the blood flow, but the size and length of the penis do not change significantly. It is estimated that only about 21 percent of all European men have a flesh penis. In warmer regions, flesh penises could have been an evolutionary advantage because they are more visually noticeable.
When exactly a penis is called a meat penis is not medically defined. However, a urological study published in the International Journal of Impotence Research in 2018 found that the difference between an erect and flaccid penis is 4 centimeters on average. Based on this, the researchers categorized all those penises in which the difference between flaccid and erect state is less than 4 centimeters as meat penises. Therefore, those in which the difference is greater are considered blood penises.
What is a blood penis?
The remaining 79 percent of European men have a so-called blood penis (English “grower”) . This type of penis is relatively small in the absence of an erection. However, its size increases noticeably as soon as blood flows into the erectile tissue as a result of sexual arousal. A blood penis can be twice as large when erect as it is when flaccid. Because of the large difference between the erect and flaccid states, blood penises may have been evolutionarily advantageous in colder regions. A blood penis shrinks faster at low temperatures, which means it is better protected from cooling down.
Interesting: In an international comparison, German men are just below average with their penis size. This was the result of a study by London’s King’s College with 15,500 men. According to this, German men have an average penis length of 8.6 centimeters when flaccid and almost 13 centimeters when erect.
Blood penis or flesh penis: are there differences in sex?
Of course, most men want a large penis, as it is not insignificant for male self-confidence. In terms of sexual performance, however, the two types of penis are similar. A blood penis when erect can be just as large as an erect meat penis, so there is no significant difference in the sexual act. The two types of penis also have no influence on fertility and potency . The question of whether a flesh penis or a blood penis is therefore only of visual relevance and personal preference.
Tip: Instead of the penis size, the hardness of the erection is decisive for a satisfying sexual performance, in addition to the feelings that trigger an exciting mental cinema. The so-called PC muscle is responsible for the duration and hardness of your erections. With the help of these pelvic floor exercises , you can train it and thus increase your sexual performance. Likewise, these five foods can increase blood flow to the erectile tissue of your penis, thereby causing harder erections.
