THAT’S WHY we lose weight better in summer

Perfect: In summer, when we want a handsome bikini figure, the kilos actually tumble faster than in winter. But why is that? A study by the Charité Berlin reveals why we lose weight more easily when it’s hot.

According to the study: We lose weight more easily in the summer

This study suits us really well: According to research results from the Charité Berlin, it is easier for us to lose kilos in summer. Really practical – because in summer we show our bodies much more often, while in winter we can easily hide one or two rolls of fat under wide knitted sweaters. But what is the connection between our body weight and the season?

Anyone who thinks that just sweating on hot days leads to higher calorie consumption is not quite right. It takes a little more than that. However, it is true that temperature has an indirect impact on our energy consumption. In fact, a study by the Charité Berlin has shown that drinking an additional half a liter per day already increases our energy expenditure by 50 kilocalories. And of course we do that especially when the temperatures are hot.

According to study: Drinking water increases calorie consumption

The reason for this is not even the water itself, but its temperature. If we take a cold drink – in the study the water was 22 degrees – the body first has to warm up the liquid. This consumes a lot of energy.

This proved that drinking water is not only fundamentally healthy and, as previously known, helps with weight loss because it makes you feel full. Drinking as an action itself is also associated with increased energy consumption!

That’s why we lose weight faster in the summer

This is only indirectly related to the season, but is usually linked. When it is very hot, we automatically drink larger quantities and also colder drinks than in winter.
In addition, when the temperature is high, we have less appetite for greasy, large meals and at the same time consume fewer calories.
Our beach figure also benefits from the increased level of physical activity. More frequent walks, bike rides and swimming trips increase our calorie consumption in summer.
