Swimming is too boring for you, but your joints don’t work with other sports? Then water aerobics could be something for you. Because the movements are performed under water, the joints are protected and the entire musculoskeletal system becomes smoother. Nevertheless, you have to exert enough force to strengthen your muscles due to the water resistance. With this form of fitness you train endurance, flexibility and your muscles at the same time. A pleasant side effect of the training, which is also called aqua fitness: You hardly or not sweat a lot because you train in the water all the time.

Aqua gymnastics and the variants
Aqua jogging : Aqua jogging is a special running technique under water that is similar to jogging. There are variants with and without ground contact, whereby the latter is of course a bit more strenuous, but more effective for the cardiovascular system.
Aquarobic or aquastep : In this course, the trainer usually turns the music up loud because, like aerobics and step aerobics, the step sequences are more reminiscent of dancing under water, which is a lot of fun.
Aqua Qigong : This form of aqua fitness is more calm and relaxed. The exercises are based on Asian Qigong. But the water makes you feel almost weightless.
Benefits of aqua gymnastics for body and mind
There’s no question: Sport shouldn’t just let pounds melt away , it should also be fun – otherwise you only go to your course once and can’t pull yourself together afterwards. In this respect, aqua aerobics offers advantages, because the water resistance demands the entire musculoskeletal system and stimulates the cardiovascular system. The water relaxes us and makes us feel light as feathers. Those suffering from tissue weakness or low blood pressure can experience additional relief from the massaging effect of the water.
After all, there is only a low risk of injury in water aerobics and you do not need any special previous knowledge. So: Just put on your swimming trunks or bathing suit and jump into the water!
Swimming for joint diseases
But what if even movements in the water that are easy on the joints cause problems? People with inflammatory joint diseases are often only able to exercise to a limited extent or not at all due to their severe pain. The first thing to do here is to effectively relieve the pain in order to enable the necessary mobility for the workout in the water. A highly effective combination of the two enzymes bromelain and trypsin and the flavonoid rutoside has proven itself. Thanks to the wide range of effects, inflammation and swelling go down quickly – which in turn reliably relieves the pain. Enzyme combination preparations accelerate the natural process of inflammation, so they act causally, and not just suppress the pain like many painkillers do. So they also offer for people withinflammatory joint problems the opportunity to do sports – without any pain. So on to the next aqua fitness session.
