This is how you make almond milk yourself easily and cheaply

Plant-based milk alternatives are becoming increasingly popular – and not just among vegans! However, they are often still very expensive in the supermarket. Therefore, we will tell you how you can easily and cheaply make delicious almond milk yourself.

Almond milk is the classic among vegan milk alternatives . It not only tastes particularly delicious, but also naturally contains many valuable minerals and vitamins. Their high protein content also ensures that we feel full for longer. The only disadvantage: Industrially produced almond drinks often contain additives such as sugar, salt and stabilizers. So it’s all the better that we can easily make the plant drink ourselves.

How to make your own almond milk

Ingredients for 1 liter of almond milk

  • 100 grams of unpeeled organic almonds
  • 1 liter of water

Tip: If you like it a little sweeter, you can sweeten the almond milk with a little agave syrup or dates. However, when determining the dosage, keep in mind that “natural” sweeteners also contain harmful sugar.

preparation

  1. Soak the almonds in a bowl of water overnight.
  2. The next day, remove the almonds from the bowl and place in a blender with 1 liter of fresh water. Blend until you get a fine, white liquid.
  3. Now pour the liquid through a fine sieve.
  4. Finally, pour the milk into clean, sealable containers.
Stored in the refrigerator, the almond milk will keep for about two to four days.
Tip:  In order to avoid long transport routes, there are now European alternatives to Californian almonds, for example these organic almonds from Italy or these Spanish sweet almonds from transparent organic farming .

Here’s how you can use almond milk

First and foremost, almond milk is of course a delicious drink that you can enjoy on its own. You can also use the plant-based milk for mueslis or desserts such as rice pudding. The taste of plant milk also goes well with hearty dishes such as curry or soups.
