How does endurance sport help?
The training is primarily aimed at improving the body’s resistance and recovery ability, burning fat and strengthening the immune system . The bonus: You activate the body’s own pain defenses, supply your body with optimal oxygen and reduce stress. This prevents migraine attacks and improves acute tension headaches.
What matches to me?
It all depends on your preferences here. Sports such as Nordic walking, jogging, swimming or cycling have proven their worth. Pick something you enjoy. And lace up your sports shoes together with a friend, for example. It’s often easier to stay on the ball together. Motivate each other!
How often should I exercise?
Experts recommend investing at least 30 minutes in training three times a week . You shouldn’t push yourself to your breaking point or beyond it. Stay below that and make sure your heart rate is between 110 and 150 beats per minute. You can check this with fitness bracelets or heart rate monitors (in sports shops).
Can exercise also trigger migraines?
From 0 to 180? Better not! Starting your exercise program too abruptly can actually trigger a migraine attack. For example, warm up by walking slowly. Those affected then generally have no fear of a seizure.
