Menopause: Things women can look forward to

Hot flashes, sleep disorders, depressive moods – menopause can be accompanied by various unpleasant symptoms. For this reason, many women dread this time years before the onset of the menopause. One thing is completely ignored: menopause also has positive aspects. We explain what 3 things women can look forward to.

As a rule, women enter menopause between the ages of 45 and 50. Due to the hormonal changes in the period before the menopause, i.e. the time of the last menstrual period, a large number of different complaints can occur in this phase of life – including sweating, low mood or digestive problems. Apart from the fact that menopausal symptoms are not noticeable in every woman, this dreaded time in a woman’s life has more advantages than is often thought. But which ones are included?

Menopause: 3 things women can look forward to

1. You no longer have menstrual cramps

Cramps, flatulence, back pain – menstruation is more noticeable in some women than in others. The symptoms are sometimes so severe that those affected find it difficult to go about their daily lives. Some women even plan vacations or certain events after their cycle. Although there are cycle fluctuations during menopause and thus no or even heavier menstrual bleeding as soon as the last menstrual bleeding occurs, these problems are a thing of the past.

2. Your love life becomes more relaxed

Sex is the most beautiful thing in the world – and after the menopause our love life can even become a lot more relaxed. Because women no longer have to worry about contraception after menopause. For example, many women take the pill, which can have a negative impact on their health and cause side effects such as headaches or depressive moods. Likewise, the cycle and ovulation no longer have to be calculated, since family planning is usually complete, which is why we can fully concentrate on the sex itself and enjoy it.

3. You save money

Another important point is the money savings that await women after menopause. Because up to the age of 22, prescription contraceptives are paid for by the statutory health insurance – after that, however, you have to bear the costs yourself. Apart from that, pads, tampons and the like have to be bought for the menstrual period, which also incurs costs. Although the individual hygiene items are available for small amounts of money, women spend several thousand euros on them over the course of their lives.
