What is the best way to use xylitol?
As a recommendation, half a teaspoon of xylitol is taken after each meal. The powder remains in the mouth and is dissolved there. It must not be bitten. Rinsing for a minute will completely dissolve it, preventing the bacteria that cause tooth decay from doing their job. The bacteria themselves are not affected by this. Nevertheless, these cannot clump together and attach themselves to the teeth. Because this is usually the case when the pH drops below 5.5. Over time, the bacteria then get used to the xylitol and metabolize it as well. Only without producing the tooth-damaging substances.
This positive effect can also be seen on the tooth surface, which becomes smoother with regular use. This also makes it more difficult for the bacteria. However, xylitol is only a supplement to daily dental care and should not be viewed as a substitute for it.
