Things happen when you drink coke every day

Almost everyone is aware that cola is not exactly healthy because of its ingredients. But what exactly happens in the body when you drink the sweet drink regularly? We explain which 5 things happen when you drink coke every day.

Cola has a low pH, making it very acidic. So that the consumer does not taste it, a lot of sugar is added during production. The end product then consists of 10 to 15 percent sugar, which makes the sweet drink a calorie bomb with around 38 calories per 100 grams. In addition, the drink contains a lot of caffeine, which in large quantities can have a negative effect on the body. Of course, it’s okay to have a Coke once in a while, just like eating candy. However, this should be the exception and not the rule, because consumed in excess, the drink can damage the brain, blood pressure or bones, among other things. But what exactly happens in the body when consumed regularly?

These 5 things happen when you drink coke every day

1. Your teeth will be damaged

Most people know that sugar is bad for your teeth. Sugar can settle on the tooth substance and represent a breeding ground for various bacteria in the oral cavity. But it’s not just the high sugar content in cola that damages your teeth – the acidic phosphoric acid it contains can attack tooth enamel with just a few sips.

2. Cola can cause blemishes

Do you often struggle with blemishes and pimples? In addition to factors such as hormonal changes and stress, this can also be caused by an unhealthy diet. Foods that cause the blood sugar level to rise sharply stimulate sebum production and can therefore promote skin impurities such as pimples and acne. Incidentally, sugar can also promote the formation of wrinkles, as it has a negative effect on collagen and elastin, which are responsible for the elasticity and resilience of the skin.

3. You gain weight

The large amounts of sugar in cola can not only promote bad teeth and skin blemishes, they can also negatively affect our weight. The drink contains no vitamins and minerals, but many calories, which in combination with an unhealthy diet can increase weight in the long term. It is therefore healthier if you only drink water. If the taste of water is too boring for you, you can use unsweetened tea instead or enhance the taste of your water with fruit and herbs.

4. The risk of cardiovascular disease increases

Anyone who drinks cola every day, in addition to coffee and the like, usually consumes significantly more caffeine than recommended. The German Society for Nutrition (DGE) recommends drinking no more than four cups of coffee a day. That corresponds to around 350 milligrams of caffeine – if you also consume cola and other caffeinated soft drinks, you can damage your health. Because the high caffeine content increases the pulse, which can lead to a faster heartbeat in the long term if consumed excessively. The vessels are damaged and arteriosclerosis is more likely to occur.

5. They damage your bones

Did you know that cola can also damage your bones? This is due to the phosphoric acid it contains, which, when taken in large quantities, can inhibit the absorption of calcium in the bones and promote its breakdown. Since calcium is essential for our bone structure, bone density can decrease and osteoporosis can be promoted.
