Coronavirus: These rules now apply when shopping

Due to the current situation, we should stay at home as much as possible to protect ourselves and our fellow human beings from infection with the corona virus. However, a trip to the supermarket is unavoidable. We will tell you which rules now apply when shopping.

Due to the corona virus , our everyday life is severely restricted, we only leave our own four walls for a walk or to go shopping. But even going to the supermarket is currently a source of great concern for many people, as there is a risk of infection – for example when touching the shopping trolley or through unpackaged fruit and vegetables . We will tell you which hygiene rules you should now observe when shopping in order to protect yourself in the best possible way.

1. Keep your distance

For a few days now, it has been necessary to keep your distance from other customers and the cashiers at the checkout. Some supermarkets also have a limit on how many people can shop in the store at the same time.

2. No children allowed

Some shops are no longer even allowed to be entered by parents with children. Employees in front of the store ensure compliance with this rule. Strollers are also prohibited.

3. Shopping Cart Requirement

Another regulation that already applies in many shops prescribes the use of a shopping cart. Each individual customer is asked to use a trolley in order to automatically carry a spacer with them. The shopping carts are then disinfected by an employee. The rule also applies to couples who go shopping together.

4. No Cash Payment

More and more supermarkets are using card payments instead of cash, as this results in even less contact and touchpoints between cashiers and customers. The employees at the checkouts are also often protected by a kind of “sneeze guard”.

5. Don’t touch

In addition to keeping a distance of two meters from other customers, as few products as possible should be touched in the supermarket – this applies in particular to unpackaged foods such as fruit and vegetables. Nevertheless, you can buy the fresh food without hesitation. To be on the safe side, you should only wash them well and, if possible, peel them before consumption.
