Therapies against interference scars

Amazingly effective: the holistic method of treating scars releases energy blockages and stops symptoms. Susanne Schütte, head of the health department, tried it out for herself.

There is an interference field in the middle of my stomach – my surgical scar. And that has to go urgently and as soon as possible, says the non-medical practitioner after an hour of meticulous questioning, inspecting, touching and testing. Why this rush? The scar tugs, sizzles and tightens only with a few movements, in tight jeans or when the weather changes.

Little troublemakers with big impacts

That’s too superficial, I hear from the therapist. My frequent joint pains, the occasional ringing in my ears, the hyper-nervous bladder from time to time – all this comes from my interference field. This term, which sounds threatening to me, has its origins in complementary medicine and naturopathy and has long been part of the vocabulary of conventional medicine. “Such an interference field impedes complex regulatory mechanisms, organ interactions or muscle function chains in the body,” explains Dr. Friedrich Molsberger, specialist in general medicine, acupuncture and naturopathic treatments in Berlin. “Disturbance can occur in distant regions that at first glance appear to have nothing to do with the interference field area.”

But they do, and the teachings of traditional Chinese medicine, or TCM for short, clearly explain how this is connected. It differentiates between four circuits: nervous system, blood, lymph and Qi circuit, in which the “life energy” flows. The famous twelve pairs of meridians, which supply all parts of the body, organs, glands and connective tissue with operating energy, the Qi, belong to this fourth circuit.

Old scars are more annoying

Wounds that go under the epidermis injure not only nerves, muscles and vessels but also the meridians. It doesn’t matter whether it’s done with the surgeon’s scalpel like I do or with the potato peeling knife at home. Energy build-up and blockages occur in front of the scarred incision. Behind it to the energetic undersupply. The inelastic scar tissue itself impedes energy flows by downright suppressing electrical conductivity and the flow of information from cell to cell. Since each individual meridian supplies certain organ systems with “current”, it is easy to understand why, for example, a scar on the abdomen leads to headaches .

50% of all scars are interference fields that can be permanently annoying

The list of symptoms caused by an annoying scar is as complex as the energy networks in the body and as drastic as the dysfunction of the meridians and autonomic nervous system. The Hamburg specialist for general medicine and naturopathy, Dr. Sonja Reitz gives a few examples: “General, diffuse and also changing pains are often caused by trouble spots in the scars. In 70 percent of cases, severe fatigue is also present. But there can also be vegetative and mental symptoms such as dizziness, diarrhea, constipation, excessive sweating, ringing in the ears, feeling cold in parts of the body, chronic lack of energy, sleep disorders, lack of drive or depression. Friedrich Molsberger emphasizes: “Older scars, e.g. B. from childhood days,

Several therapies are often combined

All kinds of ways lead out of the interference field, back to a harmonious and unhindered flow of energy. Doctors and non-medical practitioners often combine several methods. Like me. For me, the treatment of scars begins in the classic way with neural therapy according to Huneke, named after the doctor brothers Ferdinand and Walter Huneke in 1925. That sounds so academically harmless that I’m quite relaxed. But my composure vanishes abruptly when the naturopath comes towards me with a syringe in her hand. I’m lying bare midriff and she periodically injects an anesthetic directly into the scar tissue, which responds to the taunt with wheals. Ouch, pleasant is something else! But as soon as the injection torture is over, the scar feels, somehow the whole stomach, wonderfully warm and relaxed – as if wrapped in fluffy cotton wool. And the nice feeling even lasts for hours.

Local anesthetic relaxes the scar

Local anesthetic relaxes the scar

Scientific findings confirm my new “gut feeling”: local anesthetics such as B. lidocaine or procaine level off the electrical action potential of the scar cells back to the normal value and support the self-regulatory powers of the organism. The local anesthetics also remove the energy blockages on the meridians. In addition, the injections have a mechanical aspect: They noticeably loosen the tissue structure of the collagenous connective tissue fibers in the scar. The unpleasant feeling of tension finally subsides.

80% of patients are symptom-free after 3-5 sessions

As soon as I’ve had the neural therapy behind me, I’m already “hanging on the needle” again. More specifically, my right ear was pierced with 14 thin steel needles. I’m supposed to lie there calmly and relaxed for a full 20 minutes. Not easy, because the naturopath turns the acupuncture needles at regular intervals. It hurts a lot and makes my forehead sweat a little. That’s a good thing, the naturopath thinks, because the pressure pain proves that I have an interference field. And also that she hit the mark with the needles, i.e. in the right acupuncture points. They correspond to the organ functions disturbed by the scar. According to TCM theory, this is exactly what should once again get the pent-up energy on the meridians flowing again.

I feel a slight tingling in my right ear. It feels like an electrification. However, this soothing sizzling has not yet reached my scar on my stomach. By the way: many therapists replace the acupuncture needles with a soft laser beam or with a metal stick for an acupuncture massage.

Magnetic fields let the energy flow

For me it continues with the pulsed magnetic field therapy. It’s very easy – doesn’t hurt at all. The alternative practitioner places two small cushions in the area of the scar. During the next ten minutes, they build up and break down electromagnetic fields in different frequencies. In this way, the scar cells constantly receive a new impulse that is supposed to let the Qi bubble. My scar is rebelling with pain, redness and swelling. Only the third time does success finally come: I really have the feeling that something has loosened up in me.

Cash registers rarely pay

The holistic treatment of scars combines e.g. B. also electrostimulation, osteopathy, acupressure, homeopathy and ultrasound. On average five to ten applications are necessary. The costs of around 100 to 120 euros per session are rarely covered by statutory health insurance companies. Nevertheless, it is worth asking your health insurance clerk before treatment.

40% of the patients relieves their pain by treating a scar

I lay on my non-medical practitioner’s bed a total of seven times – and I’m quite impressed: my scar is no longer a bit miffed. My complaints are all gone! But the road to get there was a bit rocky. Holistic scar treatment is really not for the squeamish.

This is how you recognize a sturgeon scar

When two of these criteria apply, your scar can become bothersome:

  • Numbness The scar is sensitive to pressure and feels uncomfortably numb to the touch.
  • RADIATE PAIN Scar pain radiates to distant parts of the body and feels like an inflamed nerve.
  • SENSITIVE TO HEAT When bathing in warm water or in the sauna, the scar starts to throb and pull. Even in the cold.
  • WEATHER SENSITIVE High and low abruptly alternate, scar itches, sizzles and prickles.
  • THICKEN The scar tissue forms either a dent or an unsightly bulge. In addition, the surrounding tissue is hardened and/or thickened.
  • TENSION PAIN Directly on the scar, even the slightest pressure from clothing creates a feeling of tension that causes aching or stabbing pains.
  • COLOR CHANGE The scar is constantly reddened or discolored reddish-brown.
