The right room climate
The first step to good sleep should be room temperature . The room should not be too cold or too warm. Sleep experts recommend a temperature of 16 to 18 degrees in the bedroom . A temperature below 16 degrees can ensure that the muscles stiffen overnight and also lead to mold that is harmful to health.
In addition to the temperature, the humidity should also be right. Air that is too dry makes it easier for house dust mites to spread, which can be particularly stressful for allergy sufferers. The ideal humidity in the bedroom is between 40 and 60 percent.
The right bed
If you want to sleep well, you need the right foundation – the bed. It is important to buy the right bed. The size should be right, especially for tall people. You should be able to stretch out comfortably in bed.
Sleep experts are increasingly recommending using natural materials in the bedroom, i.e. wood, ideally unpainted . In this way, disturbing room odors, such as the smell of metal or paint, and also possible pollutants in the air can be avoided.
bedroom as a workplace
The bedroom should be a quiet place where you can relax. A workplace should therefore only be set up there if there is no other option . Subliminally, the thought about the job will always come to the fore and this could lead to a feeling of discomfort.
The electronic devices also have a disruptive effect on sleep . Likewise, as little electricity as possible should generally flow in the bedroom, for example through radio alarm clocks, mobile phones or other electronic devices, since these emit radiation that affects sleep .
plants in the bedroom
The old myth still persists today that plants in the bedroom deprive you of oxygen and are not conducive to sleep. In reality, however, things are quite different . Plants are wonderful suppliers of oxygen and also filter pollutants from the air. However, you should make sure that there are not too many plants , as on the one hand dust can settle on the leaves and the humidity increases, which increases the risk of mold.
To prevent dust formation, the plants can simply be dusted regularly or showered once a month, provided they can tolerate it.
Create a calming environment
The bedroom should be a place of rest, also for the mind. Too much decoration, clutter, colors and furniture can be cluttered and distracting .
Ideally, the bedroom should be tidy, otherwise the brain will subconsciously be given the task of tidying up for the next day. Too many decorative items, for example from collections, should also be displayed in another room if possible.
Furnishings should be kept simple so as not to create distractions for the eye and mind . It is also beneficial for sleep to install well-darkening roller shutters in order to be able to hide light influences.
One after the other
In order to be able to restore healthy sleep, however, you should not use everything at once, because too much and too quickly is not beneficial. It is better to change one by one and see if and how it has a positive effect.
