Stages of the Menstrual Cycle

The female menstrual cycle is primarily influenced by the sex hormones progesterone (corpus luteum hormone) and estrogen. They are also instrumental in controlling the menstrual cycle and its different phases.

The female cycle plays a major role in every woman’s life. Some experience every single phase of their cycle very intensively and others hardly notice the changes that take place inside our body every month.

cycle normally comprises 28 days and is divided into five different phases:

  • the period
  • the days after menstruation
  • the ovulation
  • the time after ovulation
  • and then again the days before the period

Our hormone balance is turned upside down every month and typical signs such as mood swings are attributed to this, among other things. On the following pages you will find out what exactly happens in our body during the individual phases of the menstrual cycle .

Day 1-7 of the monthly cycle

Time out for body and soul

The levels of estrogen and progesterone are low – this makes you tired and upsets the intestines. Everyday life becomes more difficult, the need for rest is great. On these days it is particularly important to pay attention to a good diet .

Day 8-13 of the monthly cycle

Everything great

Estrogen levels are now rising, giving you a boost of energy and a good mood: the best time for new projects or to work through everything that has been left behind. Do sports, meet friends, have fun!

Love is in the air…

On no other day do you look so attractive and sexy to men. With good reason: After all, ovulation is supposed to lead to the evolutionary goal of pregnancy. Enjoy the absolute highlight of the month!

Day 15-21 of the monthly cycle

Reine Routine

Estrogen levels drop, progesterone levels rise. Strength, energy and desire are now decreasing. It’s best to switch to autopilot without giving it much thought. Caution: The risk of frustration buying is increased!

Day 22 – 28 of the monthly cycle

In a state of emergency

When all hormones drop, it’s PMS time: sensitive breasts, fluctuating mood, sleep disorders and “eating” attacks or overwork and fears occur during this time. Abdominal cramps can occur now.
