The best pore refiners

We all want a soft, fine-pored complexion. What and who helps to get it: new high-tech products, allies from nature and professional tricks from the dermatologist.

Our face has around 300,000 pores . Hormones, sweat and sebum are excreted through these fine channels. As long as these exits are microscopic, they don’t bother us. But: The older the skin, the more noticeable the pores are. By the time you’re in your late 40s, they’re almost twice as big as they were in your 25s. They’re particularly pronounced in areas of oily skin – mostly in the T-zone, i.e. on the forehead, nose and chin. Dead skin cells and melanin migrate with the skin fat to the surface of the skin and stick there with dirt and dust – the pore walls expand and appear larger and larger over the years due to the progressive loss of elasticity anyway.

The fight against large pores

Don’t worry, new special products combat large pores in several ways: Java tea leaf extracts, for example, regulate an enzyme that is responsible for the formation of skin oils. A type of brown algae, tea tree oil or soy proteins also act like blotting paper on oily skin. Ingredients such as funnel algae (Padina pavonica) or green lentil extract support natural cell division and improve the elasticity of the skin, which means that the pores no longer expand as much. Mineral powder particles, which mattify the skin and make the pores look finer, ensure an immediate peach complexion look. Or so-called cross-linked silicone polymers that lie on the skin like a fine soft-focus film.
Important: do a mild peeling every week to free the pores of ballast.

The natural way

Natural cosmetics preferably use horsetail, witch hazel and larch fungus to counteract large pores. All three have an astringent effect, i.e. they tighten the pores. At the same time, extracts from the leaves of the baobab tree tighten the fibers of the connective tissue and thus prevent further enlargement of the pores. And ginger and calendula stimulate skin function, regulate sebum production, clarify the skin and mattify it naturally.

medical consultation

Dermatologists can refine the complexion with microdermabrasion. Extremely fine crystals are blown onto the skin with compressed air and immediately sucked off again. This acts like soft sandblasting on the skin and makes it look radiant and fine-pored immediately after the treatment.
The “JetPeel-3” is brand new , in which a gas-salt water mixture is shot at high pressure onto the skin. At the same time, pore-refining ingredients can be channeled into the skin. “It’s completely painless, feels pleasantly cool and is also suitable for very sensitive skin with a tendency to couperose,” says the Munich dermatologist Dr. Stefan Duve.

Do-it-yourself cosmetics

Honey Mask for Peach Skin

Ingredients: 1 egg, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar.
Here’s how it works: Separate the egg white and yolk, stir the egg white until fluffy. Mix the egg yolk, honey and apple vinegar and mix with the egg foam.
Apply to the face, leave on for 15 minutes and wash off the mask with plenty of lukewarm water.

Dream complexion with sage

Sage has a pore-tightening effect (just like chamomile or yarrow). Pour hot water over a handful of leaves and let steep for 10 minutes.
Strain and soak a cotton cloth with the herbal decoction. Wring out and place on face as a compress for 5 minutes.

Incidentally, apple cider vinegar is also perfect for losing weight and has many other positive effects. You can find out everything about the apple cider vinegar diet here
