Conscious enjoyment – stay healthy without giving up

We all know by now why a healthy, balanced diet is the basis of health. But more and more people despair of nutrition trends and warnings about certain nutrients: chocolate and sugar make you fat and promote diabetes. Seared meat from the pan or from the grill as well as fried delicacies are said to promote cancer and also be too fatty. Gluten and lactose intolerance seem to be increasing, so consumers are asking themselves – are we not allowed to eat anything anymore? We want to go into this and advocate conscious enjoyment.

Pleasure in a glass – more often resort to non-alcoholic alternatives

The small bottle of beer or the glass of wine in the evening to relax has fallen into disrepute several times. On the one hand, the danger of dependence due to regularity is pointed out, on the other hand, alcohol generally contains a lot of calories. Alcohol in the evening paralyzes the burning of calories, disturbs healthy sleep and actually has no positive effects on health. But then the message circulated some time ago: A glass of red wine is healthy because the polyphenols it contains capture free radicals and thus protect the heart.

This report has now been refuted and it is strongly discouraged to drink alcohol every day. Anyone who decides to lead a healthy lifestyle does not have to give up alcohol completely. If possible, consumption should not take place every day and of course not get out of hand.

Instead of forgetting the day with a cheap wine every evening, consumers should rather have a good wine in the house that is consciously drunk to end a beautiful day. A glass of good wine, enjoyed consciously and with a good conversation, means quality of life for many people.

Non-alcoholic alternatives can be used in the evening due to the placebo effect. Because if the bottle of beer or the glass of wine is now a kind of ritual to switch off, the alcohol is superfluous. There are good non-alcoholic alternatives for wine and beer as well as for sparkling wine at celebrations or mulled wine in winter.

Fat is not always unhealthy

Fat makes you fat, that’s the simple and easy-to-remember rule of thumb for anyone who is overweight. If you want to reduce your weight just by not eating fat, you are depriving your body of important nutrients that it urgently needs.

Unsaturated fatty acids are among the essential nutrients such as vitamins. The body cannot produce them itself, which is why it is essential for a healthy body to get them through food.

The good, unsaturated fatty acids include the omega-3 fatty acids and the omega-6 fatty acids, which are found in many vegetable oils. The consumption of rapeseed, olive, flaxseed, algae or echium oil as well as oil from fatty fish is an important contribution to health.

Of course, these oils should not be consumed in excess either, but they do represent a better alternative to cheap deep-frying fats. When it comes to conscious consumption , consumers should rely on the unsaturated fatty acids. Lard, margarine or palm fat, on the other hand, should be avoided. In this way, you can do something for your health without making any sacrifices.

Avoid excess sugar

Forgoing sweet sins entirely would dramatically reduce the quality of life for many people. From bread with jam for breakfast and pudding for dessert to cake in the afternoon and sweets in the evening – the human body loves sugar.

Unfortunately, in modern foods produced by industry, sugar is processed in large quantities almost everywhere:

  • fruit yoghurts
  • juices
  • ready-made salad sauces
  • Pickled cucumbers
  • Canned vegetables

Hidden sugar tastes good to us, but confuses the organism. The energy from sugar gives the body a short-term excitement and spikes insulin levels. Since sugar only provides a large amount of energy for a very short time, the insulin level plummets after consumption. The pancreas then reports that new sugar is needed. Consuming sugar creates a real vicious circle, which in some cases can lead to obesity or even diabetes.

Consumers should therefore not do without the food and sweets they love, but better avoid the superfluous sugar in industrial foods.
