What are dried fruits?
Pure dried fruit is fresh fruit from which the water has been removed. Depending on the type of fruit, there is a residual moisture of around 10 – 30 percent. Although the fruit loses vitamins (such as vitamin C) and flavorings as a result of drying and the removal of water, the proportion of nutrients and minerals increases.
Dried fruits come in a variety of varieties, including plums, raisins, apricots, cranberries, dates, and mango. The nutrient content varies depending on the type of fruit. For example, dried bananas are the richest source of magnesium, while figs have the highest calcium content. In addition, they are rich in carbohydrates, which makes them an excellent source of energy, especially for athletes.
As long as the small fruits are eaten in moderation and not soaked in sugar syrup or processed in unhealthy ways, they bring a whole host of health benefits. You can find out what these are here.
