What’s in peanut oil?
Peanut oil is extracted from the dried seeds of peanuts. The manufacturing process is easy to explain and not mysterious: After harvesting, the peanuts are dried in their shells for a few weeks. In the process, their originally high water content is reduced from 40 percent to less than 7 percent. The peanuts are now shelled with the help of rollers, the seeds are mechanically crushed and then cold-pressed.

Cold pressed or refined?
Cold-pressing processes are particularly gentle, which means that many flavorings remain in the oil. Cold-pressed peanut oil therefore tastes much more intense than refined oil. While cold-pressed peanut oil is mainly used to refine dishes, refined peanut oil is particularly suitable for frying. Refined oil is industrially produced using heat processes and has a very high smoke point of 230° Celsius.
