Angel Therapy / Channeling
An alleged medium receives and passes on messages or specific instructions from angels or other supernatural beings to the person seeking advice. The qualification of the angelic ambassadors is usually limited to their own drastic experiences or enlightenments. Some providers also refer to training courses with fantasy names such as “Healing Channeling” that are not recognized by the state. Possible danger: unstable people often get into a relationship of dependency and feel insecure in their everyday life without the instructions of the angels.
Reincarnation therapy / regression therapy
According to reincarnation therapists, many mental and physical problems arise from traumatic experiences in a previous life. It is said that only those who allow themselves to be led back into this and expose themselves to the trauma again can overcome it. However, there is no scientific evidence for this thesis. Possible Danger: Many clients believe they remember life as an executioner, murderer or similar. It is not uncommon for strong feelings of guilt to develop from this, which can cause mental crises.
Family constellation according to Hellinger
Bert Hellinger derived his family constellation from the serious family sculpture of the American family therapist Virginia Satir. However, he expanded his method to include esoteric elements (for example the knowing field), which make family constellations an unscientific and sometimes risky show event. The aim is to shed light on family entanglements and to restore the order prescribed by Hellinger. Possible danger: The person seeking help is often confronted with incriminating statements and judgements, sometimes in front of a large audience, and is then often left alone. A young doctor and mother of four from northern Germany took her own life after a family constellation.

Rebirthing
Rebirthing
Everyone, according to the inventor of rebirthing Leonard Orr, is traumatized by their own birth. Physical and mental complaints in adulthood are then the logical consequence; reliving birth is the only way to cure all illnesses. Possible danger: The clients should be brought back to the birth situation by a special breathing technique. There is a risk of hyperventilation, which can be life-threatening in conditions such as asthma. The Secret
Do our desires have a magical attraction? Australian Rhonda Byrne believes so. You just have to send them into the universe and firmly believe in them: in success, in financial independence, in the healing of serious illnesses. The problem: Negative or unwanted intellectual orders, such as the fear of tragedy, are also delivered. Possible danger: According to Bryne’s theory, everyone is responsible for negative experiences themselves because they wished for them – intentionally or unintentionally. Anyone who believes in this may find themselves burdened with self-reproach in difficult life situations.
The Work
Solve all problems with four simple questions, that’s what “The Work” promises. This method is also not based on scientific principles, but on a single story of suffering of the formerly depressed American businesswoman Byron Kathleen Reid. The questions “Is this true?”, “Can you know with absolute certainty that this is true?”, “How do you react if you believe this thought?” and “Who would you be without these thoughts?” be checked for their truthfulness, which in most cases are wrong. Possible danger: While good psychotherapy encourages the person concerned to trust themselves and their feelings more, “The Work” does the opposite. This can lead to massive uncertainty.
Hoffman Quadrinity Process
According to the inventor of the Hoffman Quadrinity Process, Bob Hoffman, within eight days problems such as a lack of self-confidence, but also serious mental illnesses(Eating disorders, depression) can be alleviated or cured. These arise, so the theory goes, from the lack of unconditional parental love. The participants are in a kind of camp where total forgiveness is worked on for up to 14 hours a day, including visits to the cemetery, during which the parents are mentally buried. Possible danger: A lack of opportunities to withdraw and a lack of acceptance of emotional boundaries can overwhelm people mentally. Participants with painful memories may experience retraumatization.
distant healing
Distant healing
Often a photo and a name are enough. With the help of techniques such as Reiki, radionics or prana, the distance healer then sends healing energy to the client, which he himself receives from a higher power. Such is the belief. Possible danger: The healer does not know in which – possibly desperate – condition the person seeking advice is. He is left alone with what he has experienced. Even after the treatment, many victims have the feeling that the remote healer has power over them.Hold-down therapy according to Prekop Hold-
down therapy is intended to reduce attachment disorders. This is an assumption, not a scientific fact. The best-known representative in Germany is Jirina Prekop. During treatment, children are held, sometimes for hours and against their will. Possible danger: Critics and the German Child Protection Association warn against restraint therapy and describe it as “violence against children”. As a result, the child’s personality may collapse.
Radionics
This technique belongs to the field of esoteric energy medicine. Followers assume that a subtle energy field surrounds us, also called the aura or chakra system. Disturbances in this field cause diseases. These should direct electromagnetic wave patterns to the client with pendulums, rods or modern – by means of the computer – and dissolve “upsets”. Possible danger: Many providers claim to be able to see or feel diseases before they develop – using the energy field. Anyone who relies on this instead of serious medical check-ups is putting their health at risk.
Synergetic Therapy
Illnesses are the result of wrong thought patterns. At least that’s what self-proclaimed synergetic therapists or synergetic profilers claim. Conversely, mental and physical illnesses can only be healed by changing and restructuring experiences and thoughts – exclusively with the help of said therapists. The client is put into a kind of deep relaxation and is supposed to change childhood memories and other images in order to activate the self-healing powers. There is no scientific evidence for this esoteric technique. Possible danger: According to synergetic therapy, the patient is to blame for illnesses of any kind. This belief is an additional psychological burden in difficult life situations.
