From when and for whom does vaccination apply?
From March 2020 the compulsory vaccination will come into force. From then on, parents must show that their children have been vaccinated when they enter daycare and school . Children who are already in kindergarten or school must prove that they have been vaccinated by July 31, 2021. In addition , there is a vaccination obligation for educators , teachers in schools and kindergartens , as well as for childminders and employeesin medical and other community facilities. This also includes holiday camps and refugee accommodation. Residents of such a facility are also required to be vaccinated.
There is an exception if there is a doctor’s certificate stating that no vaccination can be carried out for health reasons. In addition, anyone born before 1970 is exempt from compulsory vaccination. They are largely protected by a one-off measles infection and adequate vaccinations.
How is vaccination verified?
The immunity is proven by the vaccination certificate , the yellow children ‘s examination booklet or with a doctor’s certificate . If you are not sure whether you have immunity, you can find out with a blood test. If antibodies are present, protection is effective and no vaccination is necessary.
What happens if I don’t vaccinate my child?
The facilities for which vaccination applies must report non-vaccination to the health department . This then decides how to proceed. In extreme cases , penalties of up to 2500 euros are threatened . Likewise, day-care centers are no longer obliged to accept unvaccinated children. If this happens anyway, fines can also be imposed on the facilities.
