Living in a small space

That’s what Christina says : “My living room also serves as a sleeping area and workspace. Because it has five corners, high ceilings and windows with semicircular skylights, it has the appearance of a church. I have in height what I lack in width: lots of space! 43 square meters have the advantage that I’m not tempted to stack small items and dust collectors. I threw away a lot before I moved in because I think people who accumulate things for years are empty inside. I restored a lot of furniture from flea markets or flea markets and myself.”
This is what architect Wibke Schaeffer says: “With the heavy fabrics, the dark red and the empty walls, Christina’s apartment looks like a stage. It radiates drama, especially since the individual pieces seem staged. I notice that there are many chairs in the small room – but no adequately sized table or armchair. The apartment is more of a retreat, no space for many guests and hustle and bustle. Obviously, Christina likes structure and order, often coupled with a need for quiet or security. The white carpets break up the space like islands and give it an almost playful character that breaks with the rigor and enhances the atmosphere. The self-designed furniture brings in a feminine touch, but with a certain severity. An individualist lives in this apartmentshows personality and creativity.”
In general, the architect advises: “We usually live one of two poles: either we keep things in order on the outside in order to strengthen ourselves on the inside. Or we are tidy inside and let chaos reign in our apartment. Untidy rooms have the same effect on our psyche as optical stress . In Buddhism, both areas go hand in hand – outer and inner order.”
