Interview: Christiane Paul

In our new series “My Secret”, prominent women tell us their “vital secret”. The Berlin actress Christiane Paul, 38, also talks to us about beauty, inner age and eco-consciousness.

Tolfioow: You not only work as an actress, but also occasionally as a model – for many women you are a style icon. Do you find yourself beautiful?

Christiane Paul: Who can say that about themselves? But of course, when you are professionally styled for a public appearance, it gives you a feeling of security: I look good. But I like myself best when I’m happy and surrounded by people I love and who do me good.

Are you thinking about getting older?
This is an issue that is certainly more relevant for women than for men. Everyone has an inner core that doesn’t necessarily age – there are days when I feel no different than when I was ten or twelve.

You are trying to make your own life more eco-friendly. How?
Despite the fuel-saving “Blue Motion Technology”, my car is only rarely used, and I usually do my shopping with a cargo bike. If I have to take a taxi, I always ask the head office for an environmental taxi. I get green electricity and my electrical appliances are not only very energy-efficient, I also use them consciously and do not use stand-by settings. Also, I hardly eat any meat .

“Green Glamour” is what the combination of lifestyle and eco-aspirations is called. Do you see yourself in it?
Both are important: politics and business must provide the social framework, but everyone must also take a good look at their own noses. It is certainly problematic that our standard of living is not always compatible with ecological awareness. But better to take a few steps in the right direction than none. And after you start: keep going!

MY Tolfioow SECRET : “I use SPF 30 sunscreen on my face every day, even in winter. On the one hand, because the color of my complexion must not change during a film shoot, on the other hand, because it is a very effective anti-aging method. Sunscreen can also be mixed well with other products, such as normal day care.”
