How to Make Your Own DIY Dry Shampoo

If there is not enough time in the morning to wash your hair, dry shampoo is the savior in an emergency! Conventional variants for spraying are full of chemicals. Here’s a super easy, natural recipe to help.

With just two ingredients and a few essential oils, hair immediately looks fresher and more manageable. The bonus effect: If you no longer have to wash your hair every day, the lengths do not dry out as quickly.

ingredients

for approx. 10 applications

For blonde or gray hair:

  • 4 tablespoons white clay (kaolin)
For brunette hair:
  • 2 tbsp white clay
  • 2 THE Cocoa powder
Essential oils, optional:
  • Optional, I like to use 4 drops of mint and 3 drops of bergamot

preparation

  • Place the clay (and cocoa powder, if you like) in a small bowl and mix thoroughly with a small whisk.
  • Drizzle in the essential oils carefully and while stirring constantly, otherwise there will be lumps.
  • Pour the dry shampoo into a salt shaker with very clear holes and store in a dry place.

Application & durability

  • Only use on dry hair!
  • Sprinkle a small amount of the dry shampoo onto the hairline, work in with your fingertips and then brush out. The powder absorbs excess sebum and leaves the hair looking clean until the next wash.
  • The Dry Shampoo has a shelf life of at least one year.
Tip: Keep the dry shampoo in a jar and use a large make-up brush to apply it, so you don’t have to brush it out.
