This is how you help your body switch off
- Don’t drink coffee after lunch — even if you think you don’t mind the caffeine, it can reduce deep sleep.
- Avoid afternoon naps .
- Turn off all devices, such as computers, tablets, and smartphones, at least an hour before bedtime .
- Ventilate the bedroom properly so that you can fall asleep at around 18 °C.
- Try to avoid anything that causes stress in the evenings – including work. If you work from home, you should try to avoid all non-urgent work-related activities before bed.
- If you are constantly on the go, you may only have time to think about this and that when you are in bed. To counteract this, you should take time before bed to process whatever is on your mind. Creating to-do lists for the next day can work wonders.
- Switch to a relaxing activity at least 30 minutes before bed . Reading a book or meditating is good for this.
- Yoga or light stretching exercises can also help reduce stress and anxiety. Cardio workouts, on the other hand, should be completed at least two hours before bedtime.
