Corona virus: How do I protect myself from infection?

Cases of infection with the corona virus have already been confirmed in Bavaria. But how do I protect myself and the people around me?

How do I protect myself from infection?

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), particular attention should be paid to hygiene in regions with cases of illness. This includes regular and thorough hand washing, keeping your distance from the sick, as well as coughing and sneezing into the crook of your arm or handkerchiefs, which are then disposed of.

In general, the classic hygiene standards are required, just like during a wave of flu and colds!

Corona virus or cold: what to do if you have symptoms?

According to the Robert Koch Institute, people who have stayed in a risk area (e.g. in Wuhan, China) or people who have had contact with a person suffering from 2019-nCoV and develop symptoms such as fever or respiratory problems within 14 days, visit your doctor. It is important to call ahead.

Announce your visit to the doctor’s office/hospital and explain that you have been to the affected region or had contact with a sick person and have the corresponding symptoms (e.g. fever).

If none of these guidelines are met, people who show symptoms of a cold need not fear the coronavirus!

Is a mouthguard useful?

In fact, a mouthguard offers almost no protection against infection from the outside. A face mask, on the other hand, only makes sense if you want to protect others from illness.
