Hemp tea vs. CBD tea: What are the differences?

Sometimes it is complicated to understand the products related to the cannabis plant. This also applies to the corresponding teas, because CBD tea also comes from the hemp plant, so what is the difference to hemp tea? Both are considered home remedies, but of course there are clear differences, as this article shows.

Hemp tea may be considered the current It drink, but it has been known for thousands of years. It was already drunk in ancient times – so today’s It drink is practically just a revival from times long past. The tea is made from the stalks, flowers and leaves of hemp. Some specifications:

  • THC content – since industrial hemp is used, the THC content in real hemp tea is below the 0.2 percent hurdle. When buying abroad, it is important to ensure that hemp is actually used. Because hemp tea can easily be made from the plants used for the drug cannabis. After all, all cannabis plants have buds, stems, and leaves.
  • Active ingredients – Hemp tea is rich in vitamins and minerals. They help to keep the body as active and healthy as possible.
  • Taste – hemp tea is reminiscent of herbal tea, sometimes even chamomile tea. The taste is also described by many as similar to hay.
  • Advantages – Hemp tea has a calming effect and is ideal for ›winding down‹ in the evening. It also contains trace elements and useful active ingredients such as omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids . Iron, calcium, potassium (very important for the absorption of vitamin D3) and magnesium are included.
  • CBD – and what about the CBD content? Of course, hemp tea also has terpenes, flavonoids and cannabinoids, but the CBD content is clearly lower than that of CBD tea. Certainly hemp tea also supports the balance in the body and supports the immune system, but the CBD effect is not nearly as great.

The fact that pure hemp tea contains less CBD may even be beneficial for some people. Because depending on how long the CBD tea is absorbed, the effect is significantly drowsy and not just relaxing. With hemp tea, this effect is largely absent. Nevertheless, it is recommended to always drink hemp tea in the evening, especially at the beginning , until the effect is really known. Since it is a natural product, it is never possible to say exactly how an individual person will react to it.

CBD-Tee

The fact is: CBD tea is often hemp tea to which extra CBD has simply been added. The basics are actually the same, as CBD is also extracted from special industrial hemp with a high percentage of CBD but low percentage of THC. The biggest difference between the two teas, which everyone will probably notice, is the price. CBD teas are significantly more expensive than hemp teas. And what are the other differences?

  • Extraction – while hemp tea is extracted from young industrial hemp plants whenever possible, the standard for CBD products is to use the older plants. The older the plants are, the higher the CBD content increases.
  • Active ingredients – they are completely similar to hemp tea, only now the CBD is added. CBD is also added to some teas, which is why a hemp tea can also have a CBD content of up to four percent.
  • Ingestion – like hemp tea, CBD tea can be purchased loose and in tea bags. As a rule, the duration of the infusion determines the mode of action. It is said, for example, that CBD tea with an infusion time of five minutes can also be drunk during the day, while in the evening the infusion time is more than ten minutes and the soothing and sedative effect is therefore greater. Tip: Everyone has to test for themselves what works. There are people who can hardly get to the bottom of their cup in the evening when they drink CBD tea – the effect is simply strong. So always be careful before driving.

For purely cost-related reasons, most people will prefer hemp tea and drink CBD tea on special occasions, when there is a lot of stress or health problems. CBD products come at a price and a pack of CBD tea easily costs 15.00 euros.

What makes sense when?

Hemp products are always beneficial to health. Hemp is a natural remedy that has unfortunately been forgotten over the past few centuries. Now, of course, the question arises as to when which means should be used:

  • Hemp tea – in terms of price, hemp tea is cheaper than CBD tea. It is therefore more suitable for daily use, for example as a classic switch-off ritual after the working day. With its vitamins, trace elements and minerals, it also supports the body in staying healthy.
  • CBD tea – there’s no harm in having it around the house. But for everyday enjoyment, it is probably too expensive for most people. However, if you are under massive stress, you will feel that an infection is imminent, or if you absolutely cannot get to sleep, you can take it effortlessly. However, tea is not a classic remedy for pain. Other CBD products are simply cheaper and more effective in comparison.

Although neither CBD tea nor hemp tea contain THC in prohibited amounts, the tea should never be drunk before getting back behind the wheel. Especially with the first income, it is not clear how the teas affect users. As said, there are people who after just a few sips of CBD tea have to struggle to keep their eyes open long enough for the cup to be empty and bed to be found. Fortunately, hemp products are fairly common today, so your reaction to hemp tea can be predictable. So if you get tired quickly with hemp beer or hemp wine, you should only drink hemp tea if you don’t have to leave the couch anymore.

Conclusion – perfect for reassurance

Hemp tea certainly helps to find peace in the evening hours and, incidentally, to support the body in staying healthy. CBD tea clearly tops the effect with the CBD content , but it also has a sedative effect that can ruin the evening plan in no time. With both types of tea, it is important to pay attention to the European origin and the use of industrial hemp. Only hemp has a low THC content and is therefore suitable for everyday use. In the Netherlands in particular, both teas are also offered with THC and are therefore subject to the Narcotics Act in Germany.
