What is acne and how does it occur?
Acne is known as a symptom of puberty, which usually disappears at the end of this period. Sometimes, however, it can persist until after the age of 25. This is due to a (chronic) malfunction of the sebaceous gland and inflammation of the hair follicles. They clog the sebum follicles, which first causes blackheads and later pustules and papules. There is a simple reason why this disease usually occurs on the back, face and chest. This is where most of the sebaceous follicles are located.
What exactly causes the greatly increased sebum production has not yet been fully clarified. Reasons for this can be bacteria, the excessive use of cosmetics, nicotine, stress, but also hormonal fluctuations or an unnaturally high production of fatty acids. Due to the variability of the causes, the treatment of acne is also varied. It can range from uncomplicated light therapy (for inflamed skin ) to zinc therapy (for oily skin) to antibiotic treatment (for a bacterial infection) or administration of potassium (regulates fatty acids). Homeopathy is a particularly skin-friendly alternative to the usual treatment methods.
