Tutoring on color
Emphasizing the eyebrows, balancing out sparse areas or lengthening the arch a little – this can be done in different ways, e.g. B. classic with the eyebrow pencil. In the past it was only available in grey, brown or black, but luckily today it is also available in blond tones or slightly reddish nuances. But please do not paint a uniform line, but put the finest short lines between the brow hairs, which you then shape with a spiral brush. The brows can be emphasized more expressively with brow powder, also available in many nuances: apply the powder with a slightly slanted firm brow brush, brush the brows into shape. Eyebrow markers that look like felt-tip pens with a thin tip last particularly long. They are also applied with the fine line technique, and the paint even survives a dip in the pool. Brow styling with brow gel is super quick. It is similar to a mascara, available in many shades and transparent. All you have to do is run the brush over your brows – done. You can achieve beautifully defined brows for several weeks with eyelash and brow tint. It is applied with a cotton swab and washed off immediately or after a few minutes.

An alert, radiant look – no problem with eyebrow yoga. Here’s how it works: Breathe out before the exercise and breathe in through your nose again. Hold for five seconds and exhale through your open mouth. Place the heels of your hands under the eyebrows and push the brows up with gentle pressure. At the same time, the gaze wanders towards the chest. Draw your eyebrows together as if frowning. Hold the tension and breathing for 10 seconds, then exhale slowly and take your hands off your face. Repeat 3 times. The exercise by the Filipino yogini Lourdes Julian Doplito-Cabuk strengthens the forehead muscles (which smoothes frown lines) and the upper eyelid muscles.

The right up and down
Narrow or voluptuous, angular or in a high arch – wear what you like and what suits your face. The ideal is a smooth line that rises 2/3 and falls 1/3. Test: First place a pencil vertically on the nostril – the beginning of the brow touches the pencil. Then slide the pencil from the middle of the upper lip diagonally across the iris (look straight ahead!) – the intersection with the brow marks its highest point. Rotate the pencil to the outer corner of the eye: the brow should end at the pencil. Important: only pluck away the hairs on the lower edge of the arch (never from the upper edge!) and between the brows.

Too light, too narrow, too irregular: New brow gels with growth factors give sparse brows a boost. The trick comes from medicine: Patients who used eye drops with a certain ingredient often reported that their eyelashes suddenly grew significantly longer, stronger and darker. But please never black – that almost always looks too hard and artificial.

According to Dahlke, high arched brows speak for particularly sensitive, vulnerable people, short brows indicate great self-confidence, and square angled brows are often found in people with greatTolfioowity who are hungry for adventure. Particularly thin brows would indicate that you haven’t quite got the hang of life and should become more assertive. People with extremely bushy, thick eyebrows are powerful and resilient on the one hand, but easily lose sight of the order in their own lives. Well, is that all true? Let me think.
All hairs under control
Just don’t be cheap: Good tweezers have their price (from 15 euros), but they last forever and pluck perfectly. Models with slightly bevelled edges, springy tension and precise grinding have proven their worth. With one of these, you can catch individual and short hairs and don’t pluck out too many at once. Put a hot, damp washcloth on your brows first, this opens up the pores and makes the procedure less painful. For very sensitive people: press a cool pack on the eyebrows for a few seconds beforehand, this numbs the skin locally for a short time. Always pluck in the direction of growth.
Cleverly tricked
Bald spots or total loss of the brows? On the other hand, a well-done permanent make-up helps. Instead of dark bars, reputable suppliers draw the finest hairs and work with color-true pigments that do not turn red (from 400 euros). Real hair brows for sticking on are cheaper. They look natural, last for several days and even survive showers or swimming (approx. 60 euros per pair, e.g. www.kopfpracht.de). Last resort: a brow transplant. The doctor removes hair from the scalp, grows the finest new hairs and inserts them using a minimally invasive technique (from 2000 euros).
Hair with ulterior motives
Why do we even have eyebrows? To frame the eyes nicely? Not only – evolution has thought ahead. On the one hand, eyebrows protect the eyes from intense sunlight and prevent sweat or rain from dripping into them. The curved shape also makes sense: the drops run past the left and right of the eye.
Brow styling with thread & wax
For everyone who finds plucking annoying: The oriental thread method is elegant and surprisingly painless. Here, liquid hair is plucked out using a twisted thread loop. It’s super fast and captures even the finest hairs. The method is offered in some cosmetic institutes and by many Turkish hairdressers and costs about 10 euros. A light, almost invisible fuzz above and below the brows can be removed with special cold wax depilatory strips, e.g. B. “Cold Wax Strips Face” by Veet, about 7 euros.
