Care your teeth for beautiful hair
The secret of a bright smile is beautiful teeth. With the right care, tooth decay and the like don’t have the slightest chance.
When we laugh , the sun rises in our faces: our eyes shine, our lips open, our teethflash. But they can only do that if the oral flora is healthy. It consists of bacteria, fungi and viruses that form an invisible biofilm on the teeth, mucous membranes and tongue. It is harmless as long as the immune system works well and enough saliva washes around and cleans the teeth. However, one of the tasks of the saliva is to release nutrients from the food. Because digestion begins in the mouth. The glands in the oral cavity produce half a liter to one and a half liters of saliva every day. In order to be able to keep this amount constant, we should drink at least one and a half liters of liquid a day. Calcium-rich mineral water or unsweetened peppermint tea are best, because mint also stimulates the flow of saliva.
Sweet and sour foods endanger our ecosystem in the mouth
A one-sided, high-sugar diet or chronic diseases such as diabetes can throw the oral flora out of balance: The bacteria then multiply uncontrollably and form a tough coating on the teeth, the plaque. The bacteria are particularly fond of deposits between the teeth because they are rarely disturbed there. The thicker the surface, the more dangerous.
Certain strains of bacteria in the plaque, especially the streptococci, trigger tooth decay: when
sugar is broken down , acids are produced that leach minerals such as calcium, phosphorus and fluorine from the tooth enamel – it becomes porous. Plaque also causes periodontal disease because the bacteria tend to settle on the edges of crowns and bridges. There they irritate the
gums , which become inflamed and bleed. If periodontal disease is not treated, it can lead to the loss of teeth. Another danger: The bacteria enter the body directly via the bloodstream and spread everywhere. Studies show that periodontal disease can increase the risk of heart attack and diabetes.
Brush your teeth healthy
Cleaning your teeth thoroughly and regularly is the best prevention
“At least every 24 hours, the plaque has to be completely removed, including between the teeth. But it’s better to brush two or three times a day,” advises Prof. Petra Schmage, periodontist at the University Hospital Hamburg. But please not with too much pressure. Otherwise you will literally rub off the enamel. Fluoride-containing and antimicrobial toothpastes such as “Ajona” are suitable for cleaning. Clean the niches between the teeth with dental floss or an interdental brush. Highly recommended: a scraper for the tongue. Around 30 percent of the bacteria settle in the small indentations on their rough surface.

Whole grain products and raw vegetables are healthy for your teeth because chewing them stimulates the flow of saliva. Fresh fruit contains acid that softens tooth enamel – then rinse your mouth thoroughly with cold water and brush your teeth after 30 minutes. If possible, also eat calcium-rich foods such as dairy products or almonds every day.
