Anti-Pain Roller

We test unusual methods and products for you that promise health and well-being. This month: the anti-pain roller is designed to relieve hardening.

I might have looked tense. Or it was my attitude. I felt crooked and crooked and certainly looked like it. In the past few weeks I had helped with two moves, trained hard for the upcoming tennis club championships and worked a lot. Back pain, sore muscles and a rock-hard shoulder and neck area were the consequences. Well, and then suddenly it was lying on my desk: the “dermapuncture anti-pain roller”.

He looks like an oversized fountain pen. If you pull off the black plastic cover, there is a 20 cm long rod inside, which can be angled near the handle. The other end is fitted with over 500 silver-plated needles, which are arranged in individually rotating wheels. According to the description, I am holding “a self-help massage device” in my hands that relaxes muscles, promotes blood circulation and relieves pain at the same time. In addition, the gentle stimuli that the roller creates on the skin should set the body’s self-healing powers in motion. What could I want more?

“Then show what you can do!” I think to myself and let the roller touch my muscles. The enclosed instructions only say that I should “cycle” quickly and easily over the affected areas using only the pressure of the device itself. I’ll do it. But the needles dig into the collar of my T-shirt and I have to abandon my first test. At home in the evening, calm and strapless, I try again. I let the anti-pain roller glide over the skin for ten minutes. Very pleasant, but apart from a slight tingling I don’t notice anything. The nape of the neck is a little red, but not relaxed. But as my grandma used to say: “Grass doesn’t grow faster if you pull on it!”

So every day for four weeks I dutifully massage my neck and temples for 10 to 20 minutes whenever I have a tension headache again. The manufacturer promises that I will even prevent future thunderstorms under the skullcap – i.e. migraines .

What can I say: After four days, the uncomfortable lumps on the shoulders were actually smaller and hurt less. Two weeks later, my muscles felt nice and soft and I no longer had a headache. Was it the device? Or did I just relax because my boyfriend usually took over the massage very lovingly? Honestly, I do not know. However, for some time now I have had to work his back with a scooter in return. After all, I now – finally! – Nicely defined upper arms.

Further information

The “Dermapuncture Anti-Pain Roller” is available in two versions: Our test model “Roller 100” for a selective massage, the “Roller 200” for a full body massage.

Conclusion: Handy massage stick that fits in every pocket – for a relaxing “rolling” in between. The device is really effective when used for a long time, but not in the case of acute symptoms. Be careful with chunky knits and wool – the piece gets tangled in it in no time.
